19th July 2010 - Boroughbridge Show
The Society had a very successful day with our stall at Boroughbridge Show with takings of £497. The stall had plants and cup cakes for sale as well as a tombola. If everyone who contributed to the day as listed individually the list would be numerous.
Broadly however the Society wishes to thank:
The weather could have been kinder to the show but I think we have had a "result" for the Society. Geoff managed to negiotiate a "free" stall for us for this event. The only condition was that we encourage our members to enter the Horticultural classes at the next show. Having spoken to Ron Smith who organises the classes there were no entries to the Novices section which we will all qualify for. I forsee a takeover bid from the BAS in 2011 !! Over the winter months we will try to arrange an educational talk so that we find out what "showing" entails. I keep being assured that it is not too difficult. Thanks again to all who helped.
5th June 2010 - Discover Boroughbridge Day
At the "Discover Boroughbridge Day" on the 5th June the Society manned a stall with a Tombola, Quiz Sheets, a Raffle, Books and a selection of home grown plants raising over £300. Well done to Geoff, Jill Dunderdale, Lyn Brooksbank, Alan Willert and Doug Barden who manned the stand during the day with great enthusiasm.
Also thank you to all who contibuted books and prizes for the Tombola.

Following the Discover Boroughbridge Day there were some unsold vegetable plants on the stand. These plants have been donated to Boroughbridge Manor Residetial Home for the Elderly. The home has recently obtained a greenhouse for the use of the residents and we hope that they will enjoy growing on the donated plants and eating the resulting produce.
